Brief Description

Port of Durres Master Plan
Albania
EU

A Master Plan for the Port of Durres in under preparation. The port comprises facilities for import and export of dry bulk, containers, oil, passengers, general cargo and a fishery port. The dry bulk handling facilities comprise of a minerals export (iron ore) terminal and a grain import terminal. Special attention was given to the fact that the port handles both dirty dry bulk (iron ore) as well as food (grain) and that there is a fishery port and that the port is located adjacent to the city centre. Rail transport assessments were carried out to assess the opportunities to increase the domestic hinterland for the port and as well for the transportation of iron ore.
