The General Cargo Terminal handles dry bulks, liquid bulks and break bulk. With proposed developments in the Salalah Free Zone and elsewhere, additional facilities are designed to handle increased bulk cargo. This study prepares a Master Plan for the overall port to ensure that the projects fit into an overall plan and allow future expansion.

The Port of Mina Saqr is rapidly developing into an import and export port for containers and bulk commodities. In order to deal with the projected future export volumes for aggregates and limestone plans are developed to:

• restructure and upgrade the port;

• improve the intake facilities for trucks, stock yards and loading facilities and quays for sea-going barges and Panamax vessels.

The following services are provided:

• calculation of the required future handling and storage capacities for aggregates and limestone;

• preparation of layout and design of the truck reception facilities, stock yards and loading facilities for ocean going vessels;

• investment and operational costs calculations.

Kamsar Port comprises a main jetty for export of bauxite and import of liquid bulk materials and a quay for the import of general cargo which is used to supply the staff and for the supplies of repair and maintenance equipment. After 30 years of service the steel sheet piles passed their serviceable life time and needed to be replaced. Royal Haskoning carried out the detailed design of the refurbishment, assisted with tender documents and procedures and was responsible for the site supervision.

Development and refurbishment of Industrial terminal, Port of Aqaba

A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between Jordan Phosphate Mines Co. Ltd. (JPMC) & Arab Potash Company (APCo) acting as one party and ADC as the other party for development, refurbishment, modernization, expansion, operation and financing of the existing ‘Industrial Terminal’ in the Aqaba South Port Zone. The development of new equipment and refurbishment of existing equipment of the Industrial Terminal in the Aqaba South Zone is taken into account. Therefore a Master Plan comprising detailed conceptual drawings is provided. All the functional requirements as part of the development of the Project are provided taken environmental requirements also into account. Tender and procurement documentation, including specifications, estimated capital costs and detailed construction schedule are made.
