preFEED LNG import terminal MapleLNG
Canada
4Gas

Together with its partner Suntera Canada Ltd, 4Gas is developing the MapleLNG project, a LNG import terminal located at Goldboro, Nova Scotia. This project will serve the substantial eastern Canadian and northeast US gas markets. MapleLNG will initially include three LNG storage tanks of 160,000 cubic metres capacity, providing a send-out capacity of 9 bcma. The development will be phased, starting at 9bcma and expanding to 18 bcma. The Goldboro site will be able to receive LNG carriers of up to 250,000 cubic metres. The MapleLNG site development includes marine docking and unloading facilities with two berths at a single jetty. The development includes the construction of these facilities for use as a LNG carrier berth with pipelines and other facilities as necessary for unloading LNG and transporting it to storage.

Adjacent to the MapleLNG site, Keltic Petrochemicals is developing a petrochemical complex. This complex requires chemical feedstock (ethane, propane), which could be supplied by MapleLNG. Besides chemical feedstock the petrochemical plant will also need electrical power. Part of the Keltic development is the development of a 180 MW gas-fired co-generation unit for this purpose. MapleLNG could in that case provide the natural gas supply.

Royal Haskoning executed the preFEED for MapleLNG which was the main document for the permit to construct application which was granted June 2008.
