Project Management services to the Caribbean Met Office for the construction of four remote weather radar sites including towers, equipment cabins, site compounds, access roads and including the procurement, installation, and operation of the weather radars.

The works are in Barbados, Trinidad, Belize and Guyana. This project is a joint venture with the UK Met office and is EU funded. The project also includes for the assimilation of five other sites presently run by Meteo France.

Design and construction supervision for new Radar Training Facility at the Exeter HQ of the Met Office.

The project consists of the construction of a small radome facility housing various radar units, an equipment cabin, and revisions to an existing site compound.

Inspection of  Cranes – Garvel and Stobcross

Royal Haskoning were commissioned by Clydeport Property Limited to undertake a Structural and a Mechanical/Electrical inspection of the cranes at Garvel and Stobcross. The scope of the survey included for carrying out a visual survey of the structure using the access facilities provided to identify those areas which require remedial work or further testing/analysis work. Contracts were then placed and managed to rectify defects found within the structures. The cranes were constructed circa 1915 by Sir William Arrol & Co Ltd.  The cranes stand approximately 55m in height and contain two independent lifting facilities capable of lifting 30 and 150 tons.

Inspection of Cranes – Walker Quay

Royal Haskoning were commissioned by Shepherd Offshore to undertake a Structural and a Mechanical/Electrical inspection of the 40T and 250T cranes at Walker Quay.

The scope of the survey included for carrying out a visual survey of the structure using the access facilities provided to identify those areas which require remedial work or further testing/analysis work.

Inspection of Cranes – Workington

Royal Haskoning were commissioned by Cumbria County Council to undertake a full audit of the two “Nelcon” rail mounted dockside cranes on the South Quay of the Prince of Wales Dock at the Port of Workington. This audit defines the status of the “Nelcon” rail mounted cranes with regard to compliance with the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and the Lifting Operations & Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998. The audit included a full structural/mechanical/electrical survey of all elements of the structure and required access at height techniques to be utilised

Abseil Inspection of River Leven Bridge

Inspection of a cable stayed bridge spanning the River Leven. The inspection was a 5 yearly principle inspection. As part of the project Royal Haskoning were engaged to carry out an abseil inspection of the columns and cable stays.  They were also engaged to undertake an inspection of the bridge bearings with their confined spaces team.

Abseil Inspection of Woolwich Ferry Terminal

The Woolwich ferry provides a link over the River Thames in London.  Each terminal, one located on the south and one on the north bank, consists of a reinforced concrete tower which houses the lifting equipment for two structural steel link spans.  The link spans provide the means of access from the piled roadway onto the ferry.
 
Royal Haskoning were tasked with carrying out a visual inspection of the structures housing the lifting equipment.  The inspection was undertaken using abseiling techniques by IRATA trained staff.  This eliminated the need for expensive access structures and allowed the facility to remain operational during the period of the inspection
