Standards and Accreditations
Royal Haskoning's Directors are actively engaged in the management and control of projects, which is made possible by the high Director to staff ratio. The Director delegates certain responsibilities to a senior member of staff who acts as Project Director. The Project Director is responsible to the client for the effective completion of the project and ensures that the client's needs are fully addressed during the execution of the work.

For each project, a team is assembled under the leadership of a Project Manager who is usually an Associate, Principal or Senior Engineer. The Project Manager is directly responsible to the Project Director for the work, which is managed in accordance with the firm's Quality Assurance procedures. At the start of a project, a detailed programme is drawn up, and staff requirements and targets matched to the project programme. Project reviews take place throughout the course of the work when progress and resources are monitored.

Royal Haskoning complies with the requirements of Lloyds Register Quality Assurance to NEN-EN-ISO 9001:2000, which is used throughout the firm. Approval Certification Number is 655229.

A conceptual review is also held at the start of a study or design project, when the methodology or design concepts are established. Further reviews are carried out at key dates in the life of the project to ensure that the output meets the client's requirements.

During 2002, Royal Haskoning was awarded an ISO 9001:2000 quality certificate and Royal Haskoning UK was awarded an ISO 14001 certificate – the international environmental management standard.  In 2008 Royal Haskoning NL was awarded an ISO 14001 certificate, making it only the second consultancy firm in the Netherlands to be ISO 14001 Approved.
