Areas of Expertise Print

Royal Haskoning has carried out work in the following areas of expertise.

Frieght Logistics
Freight Logistics
In the current economic climate there is the even greater urgency to “get it right”.  This means maintaining or enhancing revenue streams, whilst maintaining or improving levels of service to customers, whilst at the same time minimising or reducing expenditure. Simulation is the optimum way to explore these issues without disrupting your business and clients are typically looking to explore: overall terminal throughput capacities, optimisation and intensification of operations (ie achieving more from the assets), and operations sensitivity and stability analyses.

Navigational Modelling
Marine Risk and Navigational Modelling
Royal Haskoning's Marine Traffic Risk Assessment Model (MARTRAM) provides a sophisticated modelling tool that is optimised for the analysis of marine risk in areas of congested and high volume marine navigation. As with any transport network, marine navigation increasingly requires assessment and review of potential risk.  The model incorporates a wide range of features that allow realistic representation of marine navigation while permitting the modelling of major navigational study areas.  The tool allows full "what if?" scenario analysis providing flexibility for the model analysts to manipulate routes and vessel patterns to assess any range of options.

Bespoke Modelling

Bespoke Modelling
Whilst Royal Haskoning is frequently recognised for its expertise in container terminal and ro-ro ferry terminal simulation, we are also able to offer modelling and simulation of other cargo handling and processes to the same high degree of accuracy.  For example, we can model bulk dry and liquid cargoes for a wide range of products. Many terminals are a mix of cargo handling operations and we are able to model fully the whole terminal and its interactions.  A typical example of a mixed terminal are ferry terminals which have passengers, cars, accompanied and unaccompanied trailers, and container lo-lo operations.

Visualisation

Visualisation
The power of visualisation can be summed up with “a picture is worth a thousand words”.  It is just as relevant to replace “words” with “numbers”, as visualisation allows plans, concepts and complex numeric output to be interpreted into a visual message thereby facilitating communication with a broad audience, especially those from perhaps a non-technical background. Wherever communication is required, we believe there is the scope to enrich this communication with visualisation, whether it is through the addition of realistic environments to animations, or displaying prototyping of new concepts and innovations.

Presentational Media

Presentational Media
The way you chose to share and present your final product whether it be a simulation or visualisation is crucial to ensuring your message is put across and your product is viewed as it was intended. Our in house team of designers can offer a selection of end results for your work. These include movies, presentation, brochures and flyers.
